New regulations, new initiative, and new technologies

The revised Payment Service Directive PSD2 forces banks to open customer accounts for Third Party Providers. Everybody is talking about Instant Payments. What does it mean for banks to credit a payment within 10 seconds? Blockchain technologies have potential to fundamentally change business processes. Thomas Egner

Secretary General, Euro Banking Association

Thomas Egner is Secretary General of the Euro Banking Association (EBA). He has been holding this position since 1st May 2016.

Thomas Egner has been engaged in transaction banking for over 20 years, most recently at Commerzbank, where he was responsible for defining and developing clearing and settlement strategies, mainly in the sector of mass payments. He was a member of the bank’s SEPA Program Management Team and closely involved in the implementation of the Payment Services Directive (PSD) within Commerzbank.

Representing his institution in the European Payments Council and the German banking community in SWIFT and ISO committees, Thomas Egner has helped to shape the European payments landscape over the last 15 years. Thomas also served as a Board member of EBA CLEARING from 2004 to 2015 and contributed to different national payment committees in Germany.



DENISA WIMMEROVÁ ŠNEBERGROVÁ

Head of payment department in Česká spořitelna,a.s., Erste Group

Denisa Wimmerová Šnebergrová joined Česká spořitelna team in October 2002. She started as a Methodist for payments and now she is responsible for payments organisation and processing. She represents her bank on The Czech Banking Association in Payment Committee. Denisa has successfully implemented several projects within payments area, starting with small changes in payment processing within ČS,a.s., continue with outsourcing activities of manual processing. Last successfully implemented project she was leading was implementation of SEPA riles in Česká spořitelna. New challenge for her is PSD II project. Denisa was educated at University of Economics in Prague



SILVIA MAZÁNOVÁ

Senior Business Consultant in Česká spořitelna, Erste Group

Silvia Mazanova is currently a Senior Business Consultant for Payment Service Directive II as well as SEPA Instant Payment implementation in Ceska sporitelna, a member of ERSTE Group. In her current role, Silvia’s main focus is in analysing and understanding of opportunities coming from opening the market for third party providers and real-time banking. Previously, Silvia lead payment team within payment competence center. A strong personality who enjoys facing challenges, she has managed international projects for implementation of common SEPA solution for the members of Erste Group for the last 2 years. Her solution is currently used by 4 Erste entities as multi-tenant solution operated by same competence center. Silvia is active in SEPA area since 2008.



David Ballaschk

Senior Payments Expert, Deutsche Bundesbank

David Ballaschk is a Senior Payments Expert for the Deutsche Bundesbank. He has been working in that position since April 2015.

David is part of the Retail Payments Policy section of the Bundesbank, which in its catalyst role helped implement SEPA in Germany. His focus lies on innovations in retail payments, mainly Instant and Mobile Payments as well as Distributed Ledger Technology. Other fields of work include E-invoincing and the analysis of new market players.

Prior to joining the Bundesbank, he was educated at the Martin-Luther-University Halle Wittenberg, majoring in Economics with a focus on statistics and competition theory.

Dirk Vesper

Vice President – Product Management, Dion Global Solutions

Dirk Vesper is a senior product manager at Dion Global Solutions. Through his career he has held several positions such as application consultant, team leader for application integration solutions and project manager. Currently he heads the product management for Dion’s financial messaging and workflow engine, X-Gen, which is the technology base for Dion’s Payment Solutions. He is also responsible for FinCASE, a case management solution for tracking of payment incidents and automation of claims originating in payment transaction services.



Sertac Cetiner

Product & Development Head – RTPE solution, Dion Global Solutions

Sertac Cetiner heads the product and development team for Dion’s Real Time Payment Engine (RTPE). He is a senior payment industry expert with several years of experience as the head of payment solutions for corporate and financial institutions. Sertac is also project manager for Dion’s largest implementation project for RTPE at four member banks of Erste Group in CEE countries. He combines payment industry knowledge with technical expertise and is responsible for the design of instant payment and PSD2 related functionality in Dion products.
